WAIT! This Severance moment teased Helena Eagan way before we knew she existed!?

This scene is CRAZY on a rewatch

Lives were literally changed last week on Severance, as the season two episode Woe’s Hollow gave us the revelation that most of us had decided was true anyway. We now know that since the finale of season one, when the Innies revolted and got to experience life in their Outies body and Helly R found out she was Helena Eagan, that Helly never came back down to the severed floor. It’s been Helena the whole time, masquerading as Helly R and it’s wild. Now we’re so far into the show we’re used to the existence of Helena Eagan and the entire connection she has to Lumon – but early on in season one of Severance we didn’t have a clue. However, an old easter egg clip has been unearthed from the early days of Severance season one where Helena Eagan’s name was said and no one noticed!

It’s wild.

The scene

Way back in episode three, Harmony Cobel enters a room with Natalie and Milchick and says “is this about Helena” – obviously referring now to Helena Eagan / Helly R. And nobody clocked it. Obviously, we wouldn’t have had reason to because we didn’t know Helena Eagan existed. But the eagle eyed and eared on Reddit pieced together that Helly R’s outie must have been a higher up at Lumon after piecing together that Helly is clearly an abbreviated version of the more formal Helena.

One Reddit user said “It’s been talked about on this sub, and was used as ‘evidence’ of Helly’s ancestry/position at Lumon. Also the fact Outie Helly and Cobel wear the exact same outfit (identical coat/scarf combo).”

Another explained why in hindsight the moment is more significant, knowing what we now know. “I think it’s more the context we first hear ‘Helena’ I think she’s talking to Natalie here who we know is associated with the higher ups at Lumon. It may have not been the proof but it was definitely a seed for the theory.”

God, I can’t wait for episode five – but crazy Helena Eagan’s name was easter egg dropped in Severance season one and we barely even clocked it. The power of a rewatch.
