So, did the miscarriage Belle Gibson had on the Netflix show really happen?

During Apple Cider Vinegar, Justin calls it her ‘alleged’ miscarriage

Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix tells the true story of a bunch of lies. So, it’s quite hard to keep up with what’s real and what’s not. In episode three, we see influencer scammer Belle Gibson suffer a miscarriage.

At the time, Australian influencer Belle was with Clive Rothwell. She later claimed to have cured her terminal brain cancer through alternative therapies and nutrition. Belle claimed to have been diagnosed with many cancer pathologies, all of which she said she had managed to cure naturally. She also claimed she had been donating a huge sum of her profits to charities. But, it was all a lie.

In Apple Cider Vinegar, straight after the heartbreaking miscarriage scene, journalist Justin questioned her story and called it an “alleged miscarriage.” Given how much she lied about her health before, he questioned if she made up losing a baby to misinform people even further. Justin is married to Lucy, a real life cancer sufferer, who follows Belle Gibson.

So, because of how much it’s questioned during the Netflix show, you might be wondering if Belle Gibson really did have a miscarriage. Or, if that was just another horrible thing she made up.

Did Belle Gibson have a miscarriage in real life?

As far as we know, it is true that Belle Gibson tragically suffered a miscarriage. We only have her word for it, but in an interview she strongly denied this being something else she had made up.

Real life Belle Gibson said that she suffered a miscarriage in 2012. This was whilst she was with Clive Rothwell, as reported by Woman’s Weekly. During a 2015 interview it was said Belle became “visibly upset when questioned about [her miscarriage]”. She refused to “discuss it, other than to tearfully deny allegations it was another false health crisis.”

Her partner Clive was noted to have not wanted to speak about it either. He was “supportive but obviously devastated” by Belle’s scandal.
