‘Call a spade a spade’: Elon Musk’s daughter claps back at ‘Nazi salute’ allegations
‘Plausible deniability honey. Just saying’
Elon Musk’s estranged daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson has responded to allegations that her father did a “Nazi” salute during Donald Trump’s inauguration earlier this week.
Donald Trump began his second term as President of the United States on Monday in an event dominated by Melania’s giant hat, looming tech bros like Mark Zuckerberg, and the crazy law changes Trump issued soon after. But even now, four days after it happened, people are still talking about Elon Musk’s alleged Nazi salute.
“Thank you for making it happen. Thank you, my heart goes out to you,” he said during the inauguration moments before making the gesture twice. The choice has been widely debated online with everyone from Andrew Tate to Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offering their thoughts. When the Senator slammed the salute on Twitter, Elon responded with “Just 100 per cent lost her marbles” on Twitter.
Now one of his Elon’s 13 kids has replied.
Elon Musk’s daughter posted the statement on Threads
Vivian Wilson, who is the daughter of Elon’s first wife Justine Musk, has been open about her tense relationship with her father Elon for a number of years, telling NBC in 2023 that he was always “cold, very quick to anger” and narcissistic. She’s never held back, and her recent Threads statement was no different.
Following the viral debate about her father’s salute, Vivian posted a statement on Instagram Threads that seemingly addressed the moment without explicitly naming him.
“I’m just gonna say let’s call a spade a f**king spade,” she said. “Especially if there were two spades done in succession based on the reaction of the first spade.”

In a second post, Vivian looked to respond to the defence that Elon Musk’s gesture could be explained by his “autism”, something he confirmed on a Saturday Night Live appearance in 2021.
She teased: “I don’t know why ya’ll are reacting with such vigour, I’m clearly only talking about card suits. I mean I have ADHD and this was CLEARLY just an accident that people happened to interpret to mean something other than just card suits. After all, there’s no proof I’m not just talking about card suits.
“People assuming that I’m not just talking about card suits just goes to show how dishonest people/the media can be.”
In a final post, Vivian echoed sentiments from Elon Musk critics who claimed the gesture was strange enough to be explained away.
“For those who can read between the lines, do y’all understand how f***ing easy this is to do? Plausible deniability honey. Just saying,” she added.
