Insane Netflix doc sheds light on The Jerry Springer Show – but how rich was the host?
At the time of his death, his net worth was more than Zendaya and Logan Paul combined
Netflix’s new documentary, Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action, has shed light on the controversial talk show, and while the details revealed are undoubtedly shocking, I can’t help but wonder about the host’s net worth after 28 seasons and nearly 5,000 episodes.
The UK might have boasted The Jeremy Kyle Show, but long before he was forcing working-class people onto his couch, Jerry Springer was doing the same over in America. His drama-packed show ran from 1991 to 2018 and followed relatively the same format as Jeremy Kyle’s.
Jerry died in 2023, and the new Netflix documentary has unpacked the toxic practices and the people left in the show’s wake. So, let’s see how much money Jerry Springer made by exploiting the trials and tribulations of everyday people.
What was Jerry Springer’s net worth at the time of his death?
For years, The Jerry Springer Show was THE American talk show, outclassing Oprah and those like it with an average viewership of eight million people. Naturally, Celebrity Net Worth and the Netflix doc estimated Jerry Springer’s net worth to be around $60 million (£48m) at the time of his death. For reference, that’s more money in the bank than Zendaya, Lindsay Lohan, and Logan Paul combined!
While the majority of Jerry’s money was amassed through his own reality TV show, that wasn’t his only stream of income as he also did stints on Dancing With The Stars and The Masked Singer. He was also the host of America’s Got Talent.

Sometimes, when he wasn’t dragging up people’s biggest traumas for views, Jerry Springer lent his admittedly iconic voice to TV and film. According to his IMDb, his acting credits included appearances in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Domino, The Simpsons, and many more.

He had a fairly impressive political career
Jerry Springer was no one trick pony and he actually made his start in the world of politics, acting as Mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978 before acting as an adviser to Robert F. Kennedy’s congress campaign. Following that, he became a political commentator on NBC’s Cincinnati affiliate WLWT.
Though most of his later work centred around the arts, Jerry Springer kept up with his political commentary by covering the 2016 Presidential election for This Morning, Have I Got News for You, The Friday Night Project, and The Wright Stuff.
