Channel 4 slams rumour Ross was told to write ‘stay’ so more MAFS couples would make final vows

‘Ross and Sacha shouldn’t have been in the final few episodes at all’

Channel 4 has rubbished a rumour that Ross was told by MAFS UK producers to write “stay” at the last commitment ceremony so that more couples would make it to final vows.

A post has been going around in a MAFS Facebook group, claiming the show is a “fix” because Ross had intended to write “leave” when Sacha did, but was made to change this to “stay”. The post claimed this was because producers needed more couples to make it to the end of the experiment.

“At the last commitment ceremony, Sacha wrote leave if you remember,” the post said. “Well so did Ross. But he was asked to change it to stay. Producers wanted four couples at final vows. This means that Ross and Sacha shouldn’t have been in the final few episodes at all. Manipulation all round, huh?”

The admin of the Facebook group, which has nearly 150k members, claimed this was “gossip they couldn’t share without permission” with other admins branding the show “all a fix.”

Channel 4 told The Tab this categorically isn’t true. The show said no cast member would ever be forced to stay in the experiment should they want to leave. Sacha also told The Tab she didn’t believe it was true her groom had also opted to leave. A Channel 4 spokesperson told The Tab: “Contributors have the right to exit the experiment at any point they wish.”

Speaking about her time with Ross after the show, Sacha said in an interview: “It’s just dark. Dark. I can’t think of one happy memory after the show. It was awful. The last happy memory I have is going to the first reunion together and putting on a strong front.”
