P Diddy requests bail again claiming accusations were part of a ‘consensual relationship’

All his previous attempts at bail have been denied

P Diddy has filed a new motion requesting bail, claiming some of the accusations against him were part of a consensual relationship. This could mean he could be allowed to be released before his trial takes place. His legal team claim that new evidence should allow him to be let out of prison in advance of his trial.

He was arrested for accusations of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution but he has denied all these charges.

In another attempt at bail, P Diddy’s lawyers made one difference from their previous tries that were denied. This time around, they cited “evidence” that some of the criminal accusations were part of a “consensual relationship.” This was particularly about the 2016 Cassie Ventura video.

“The video is not evidence of a coerced ‘freak off,’ but rather a minutes-long glimpse into a complex but decade-long consensual relationship between Mr Combs and Victim 1,” the lawyers’ filing read. The lawyers also told People that they think the prosecution’s case is “thin.”

P Diddy’s legal deemed the new bail proposal “far more robust than the previous one.” They proposed home detention with constant security monitoring and “near-total restrictions” on Combs’ ability to contact anyone apart from his lawyers.

His previous attempts at bail were denied, with the original case judge, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky, denying his first bail: “I don’t believe that counsel has the ability to control you, given the very significant concerns I have, particularly because of substance abuse and what seems like anger issues,” according to a court transcript reviewed by USA Today. “The danger, I think, is quite serious,” she added, and decided that the bail package would not “assure his return to court or the safety of the community, or a lack of witness tampering.”

Judge Carter, the case’s second judge, upheld Tarnofsky’s original ruling and refused to grant P Diddy bail on the grounds that he was “a danger to the community.” Judge Carter also described the Cassie Ventura video as “troubling.”

P Diddy is currently being held in New York Metropolitan Prison where he must await his trial, which is due to take place on 5th May 2025.
