P Diddy denied bail twice as he’s labelled a ‘danger to the community’ by judge

He will have to be detained until his trial

P Diddy has been denied bail twice by judges on the case, which means he will have to remain detained at the New York Metropolitan prison until his trial. The date of his trial is yet to be set, so P Diddy remains in custody indefinitely. Judge Carter shared a statement as to why he denied P Diddy’s request for bail – one of which was a $50 million deal.

What was in the $50 million bail packages?

In exchange for being released from prison until his trial, P Diddy and his team of high-profile lawyers proposed two $50 million bail packages which included the following:

  • $50 million secured by the equity of his $48 million dollar Miami home, and his mothers’ home.
  • Restriction of his travel, so he can only either remain in Miami, Florida or go to New York to attend court.
  • The surrender of his passport.
  • The surrender of his mother and childrens’ passports.
  • A GPS tracker.
  • The selling of his aeroplane.

He agreed to weekly drug testing, and to not allow any women other than his mother or the mothers of his children into his house. The bail document also vouches for his “philanthropy” and “contributions to society.”

In the appeal, P Diddy’s lawyers wrote that the Metropolitan Detention Centre where he is being held is “not fit for pre-trial detention,” noting that “an inmate was murdered” last summer and that “at least four inmates have died by suicide there in the past three years.”

Why were all of the bail requests for P Diddy denied?

Judge Carter, the judge on the case, and Judge Robyn Tarnofsky, denied every bail appeal P Diddy and his lawyers submitted. Judge Carter described the Cassie Ventura video as “troubling,” to which the defense claimed that he had problems with drug addiction and anger that he addressed by entering a rehab program. The bail package was denied for being insufficient.

The first judge, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky, denied his first bail: “I don’t believe that counsel has the ability to control you, given the very significant concerns I have, particularly because of substance abuse and what seem like anger issues,” according to a court transcript reviewed by USA Today. “The danger, I think, is quite serious,” she added, and decided that the bail package would not “assure his return to court or the safety of the community, or a lack of witness tampering.”

Judge Carter upheld Tarnofsky’s first ruling, denying his second bail attempt on the grounds that the rapper was a “flight risk” and “danger to the community.”

Judge Carter has now stepped down from the case, and a new judge, Arun Subramanian has replaced him.

P Diddy’s parties have been at the centre of attention since his arrest last month in New York City. Many of his parties, including the alleged “freak offs” have been described by prosecutors as a way for Diddy to allegedly abuse women and use threats to force them into orgies with male sex workers. P Diddy has denied all of the allegations made against him.
