Married Lancaster Uni graduates earn contract as coffee supplier to the university
Alex and Suzy Carrington graduated from Lancaster University in 2010
Two Lancaster University graduates have renewed their relationship with the university after taking over as its main coffee suppliers.
Alex and Suzy Carrington graduated from the university in 2010, where they met and fell in love.
They earned a contract with the university after a blind tasting test that took place on campus.
Alex and Suzy worked as wedding photographers and cruise ship team members for 10 years before they began plans for their coffee business, according to the Lancaster Guardian, having earned degrees in politics and international relations, and fine art respectively. They married in December 2020.
When asked about their new contract with Lancaster University, Suzy Carrington said: “Getting the contract with Lancaster University is a huge win for Carringtons.
“Our business is about so much more than coffee. Through our wider ‘Fuelling the Bold’ initiative, we support the wellbeing of individuals across our community.
“Through events, through our own Bold coffee shops, but often just through a simple conversation over a cup of coffee. So, we’re really delighted to bring our coffee to the university and have the opportunity to reconnect with the community there.”

Carringtons Coffee Co has seen substantial growth in the last few years, having earned a contract with the Westmorland Family earlier this year. The Westmorlands currently run Tebay services.
Alex and Suzy also moved their company from its set up on a farm in Warrington to their new roastery, located in Carnforth, in 2022, according to the Lancaster Guardian.
Carrington’s Coffee and “Fuelling the Bold” have been involved in many community events aimed at wellness and fitness, organising coastal walks and other events. They are currently partnered with the mental health charity, Blackdog Outdoors.
The couple’s roastery has expanded since its opening to include a bakery, and the Carringtons have also opened two branches of Bold coffee shops to accompany their business.
These shops are located in Hest Bank and Settle, with a third Bold coffee shop set to open in Silverdale later this year.
