Erm, the Uni of York bus routes have officially changed AGAIN
There are two new services to Fulford and the Designer Outlet
University of York bus services are set to change for the upcoming academic year, with new routes in motion from the 13th September. The changes include new names for the buses (wave goodbye to the 66), more night time services, and two brand new routes.
Changes to the Uni of York bus routes are not unfamiliar to students. Within the last year, the campus shuttle route has changed, fares have increased, and travel between campuses needed a paid ticket for a short period of time. It’s fair to say that most students rock up to the bus stop with their fingers crossed.
Here are the new changes to the bus routes, starting Friday 13th September:
- The 66 and 67 service is to be replaced by the U1 and U2, with no changes to the routes
- The UN1 is to replace the N67, the night time bus service that will operate from 12:00am-04:22am every day of the week
- The UN1 will now run in both directions (to and from campus), rather than just from the city centre to campus
- New service U3 – runs between Campus East Interchange, Halifax College, Fulford Road, and the Barbican
- New service U4 – runs between Campus East Interchange, Fulford Road, and the York Designer Outlet (Saturday and Sunday service only)
The Student Union was vocal last year about the difficulty of changes to the bus routes, launching the #FixFirst campaign for students to be more involved. One of the campaign demands was to bring back the service to Halifax College, which has now been reinstated in the new U3 service. As well as financial concerns about ticket fares, the union also stated its commitment to making different areas of York more accessible to students, something that has been developed in the two new bus services.
