BREAKING: The Ron Cooke Hub on Campus East is currently on fire

Fire engines are at the scene


The Ron Cooke Hub on Campus East, University of York is currently on fire.

Two fire engines were called out to Campus East around 11pm this evening.

Fire alarms can be heard across Campus East and there is a considerable amount of smoke rising from the building.

Update: One student who was in the building at the time was told the fire was started due to electrical and plumbing issues.

Update: Last night’s ‘fire’ was actually steam caused by a water leak.
