It’s that time of year!

The Stand wants YOU to apply to be a part of the jolliest family in St Andrews: our editorial team. Do you have an enquiring eye, hilarious sense of humor, and/or delightful demeanor? Do you love writing breaking news pieces in record time, voicing your opinions for the whole three streets to see, and following St Andrean sport? Do you just want something to put on your CV? Then the Stand is for you.

In your cover letter, be sure to include why you’d like to join The Stand, what you think you can bring to the team, and why your experience will help you to be the BEST Deputy Editor possible. Baby pictures, hilarious anecdotes, and cash bribes (okay, kidding) wouldn’t hurt either.

Deputy News Editor:

We are looking for a News Deputy Editor who is comfortable with copyediting, reporting and engaging in regular communications with the News Editor and reporters. Nothing should stump you, as you must be able to follow up on stories, poke into the corners of St Andrews to uncover breaking news, and feel comfortable communicating with University administration when necessary .

Above all, our Deputy News Editor should be reliable, organized, and unafraid to poke some fun at our favorite town.

Deputy Features Editor:

The Stand is looking for an enthusiastic, fun and quick-witted student with strong editing and organisational skills and a penchant for clichés. The Deputy Features Editor will assist with the old favorites like Blind Date, Student of the Month, and Top 5 things to do…, and with the creation of new and unique features.

The Deputy will need to correspond with the writers by sending out regular emails and chatting at the weekly meetings whilst always keeping an eye out for new recruits! Other responsibilities will include the posting of articles, making sure our articles appeal to our audience and even writing some yourself – a love of writing is therefore a must.

Deputy Opinions Editor: 

Opinions is looking for a deputy with the ability to stir up controversy. Whether it’s sex, drugs, or snap chatting in the library, The Stand needs a fearless individual to write and coordinate opinion pieces about the most interesting aspects of life in St Andrews.

We need someone with an efficient, capable approach to writing and editing. Excellent copy-editing skills are a myst, as is a willingness to recruit writers from all over St Andrews.

Deputy Sports Editor:

Got a penchant for punditry? The Stand is looking for its first ever deputy sports editor (no pressure). So, whether you’re a passionate proof-reader, a keen critic or a fervent sports-fan, get your applications in for the chance to help manage a team of dedicated writers providing the Bubble with comprehensive coverage of local, national and international sporting news.

NB: An original, catchy sporting catchphrase will aid your application (something like this).
