53% of Notts students think Nottingham should go into a local lockdown
“It is irresponsible to continue the spread like we are at the moment”
53% of Notts student think that the city of Nottingham should go into a local lockdown, a poll on The Tab Nottingham’s Instagram page revealed.
Out of nearly 2,500 people who voted, 1,294 people voted that yes, Nottingham should go into a local lockdown whilst a close 1,139 people voted for no.
This comes only a day after it was revealed that the city of Nottingham has the highest number of coronavirus cases in England, with 2,294 people in the city testing positive this week alone. This means there are now 689 cases per 100,000 people.
Following this revelation, it has now been heavily rumoured that a local lockdown is imminent for Nottingham with the city council urging people to not mix outside of their household.
Sarah*, a UoN student, when asked her opinion on a local lockdown told The Tab Notts, “I think it’s irresponsible to continue the spread like we are at the moment!”
Whilst, Jack*, a fourth year student living in Lenton believes that a lockdown “won’t make a difference and that we shouldn’t be punished for bad government policy”.
Henry, a second year Economics student at UoN, when speaking to The Tab Notts, summed up his feelings to a local lockdown rather eloquently: “If you say yes you’re a wetty”.
