Trick or treat?

Don’t be tricked: our influence may be Halloween, but if you take away the occasional bat wing and tone down the makeup, you are left with a versatile and gothic-inspired look – a key trend this Autumn/Winter.

Get inspired by how we have taken street style to a gothic realm with an added Halloween mystique in the first part of the shoot:

This outfit is naughty but nice! This feminine lace dress can be grunged up with edgy layering and a pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s finest. For a cheaper option, check out Fearne Cotton’s ‘Very’ collection.

A touch of androgyny never hurt anyone! Plus, this look is perfect for a gothic style. Reinvent old clothing by layering up and adding statement jewellery.

The second part of the shoot is inspired by Valentino’s Autumn/Winter 2012-13 collection. Here we have taken sheer fabrics, elegant lace and maxi’s, and moulded them into a student-friendly style that’s perfect for an elegant night out.

This Zara dress is both luxurious and unique. Structured with a vintage belt, it breaks up the print by adding another dimension to the look. The cinched wrists echo Valentino’s collection, bringing the catwalk to student life.

With this outfit, we’ve experimented with contrasting lace and it’s paid off. Dress down maxi’s with loose fitting t-shirts or be bold with a structured crop top.

By revitalising items, vamping up the gothic element and wearing black on black, you can use what you already have to create a gothic Halloween outfit.
