U-wee-A: Rogue footballer ‘whips out his wang’ and urinates on clubbers on LCR dancefloor

The UEA Rovers football team faced a backlash on social media after one club member urinated on students in the LCR.

A UEA football team were enjoying a social at the LCR when one of their members “whipped out his wang” in the middle of the dancefloor and urinated on clubbers.

Students have claimed that some members of the “UEA Rovers”, a team not affiliated with the Union and comprised of both students and non-students, (identifiable by their matching lederhosen) were exposing themselves throughout the night, acting disrespectfully, and making people feel uncomfortable.

A number of complaints were posted on the UEA Fitfinder page, calling out the mystery urinater and prompting outrage.

A Rovers’ spokesperson told The Tab that the club member feels “absolutely horrible about it”.

He said: “What was meant to be a fun social did turn disrespectful, but that wasn’t the intention at all. It’s very out of character for the lad in question, and I have got assurances that something like this won’t happen again.

“On the whole, most people were well behaved but of course the actions of a couple were disappointing and we obviously will take responsibility for them.”

He also confirmed that apologies had been offered to those students affected, and they had been accepted.

Initially, however, some of The UEA Rovers were not wholly repentant. Whoever runs their Twitter account had a more cavalier attitude towards the incident:

Subsequently, the club tweeted explaining that those involved had apologised:

It’s not the first time that members of a sports team have crossed a line or acted offensively- UEA Men’s Rugby was banned for a year in 2011 following poor behaviour on socials- and it appears that this is something which does no go down well with UEA’s student community.

One student tweeted: “Hearing stuff about dickish guys at the lcr last night, first thought  ‘I wonder which sports team they were from?'”

The Union has now opened an investigation into the incident. Anthony Moore, Representation Support Worker, said: “It is really important that the membership takes these matters seriously. I have been liaising with the ENTS staff and an investigation is underway.”
