The LCR is to be renamed in honour of the late Entertainments Manager, Nick Rayns.

Mr Rayns, who died suddenly last month, was responsible for finding many of the acts who have graced the stage of our LCR over the past 34 years. Tributes poured in across the music and student communities after his passing, and the Union has announced its formal commemoration to Mr Rayn’s work will be the renaming of the Lower Common Room.

The new name, The Nick Rayns LCR, will come into use on June 3rd.

The Union Management team said ‘Nick’s dedication to promoting live music during his time here was absolutely invaluable to building the Union’s reputation across the country. It is a fitting tribute to the man that made the venue what it is today’.

Mr Rayn’s colleagues on the Entertainments team added ‘The Entertainments department is proud and honoured to have Nick’s name as a permanent fixture to the Student Union venue. He gave so much yet asked for so little.’
