A man has been rescued from a fire in Fallowfield

It happened on Langley Road

Earlier this afternoon, a man thought to be in his 40s was rescued from a terraced house which was on fire.

At 12.55 this afternoon fire crews were called to the scene and are reported to still be putting out the fire.

People had to stand and watch from the street as firefighters saved the man on Langley Road in Fallowfield.

It is believed that the fire began in a first floor bedroom, from which the man was rescued. He is now being looked after by the North West Ambulance Service who are treating him for smoke inhalation.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: “We were called at 12.55pm to Langley Road in Fallowfield to reports of a fire involving a first floor bedroom. We sent crews from Moss Side and Withington, and four firefighters with breathing aparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

“One man was rescued from the property and was treated for smoke inhalation. He was conscious and breathing.

“The fire was confined to the bedroom.”

There are believed to be no further injuries caused by the blaze.
