There were 11 burglaries in Fallowfield last weekend

Student houses are increasingly under threat

Over 48 hours, between 00:01am on Saturday to 11:59pm on Sunday, 11 burglaries took place in Fallowfield.

Student homes are being targeted for the large numbers of residents and easy access to laptops, phones and other tech items.

Houses in Fallowfield are being targeted more due to the value of goods inside

Houses in Fallowfield and the surrounding area have become notorious targets for bulglaries, but last weekend, there were more than usually reported, just in Fallowfield.

Third year Grace lives on Granville Road and was burgled at the weekend. She recalled her terrifying experience of Friday night, telling The Tab: “It was the scariest moment of my life, I heard a massive bang and it woke me up.

“A few minutes later, I heard someone coming up the stairs towards my room, I locked my door and the person started pushing really hard – thank god he didn’t get in!

“I was sat in bed fearing for my life.

“They didn’t steal any of the phones or laptops that were in the house which makes it scarier in my eyes.

“Lock your doors everyone!”

Police are recommending that we are all very cautious and always lock doors and close windows.

If you are broken into, always report it to the police.
