The Tab Leeds is recruiting – Come write for us!

Be the first to break the biggest stories on campus

From a Leeds Uni student being spat at and racially abused whilst in the Royal Park pub to Beckett introducing a degree in TikTok and Police officers telling students that ‘they had keys to access their bedrooms,’ The Tab Leeds breaks the biggest stories on campus.

Whether you want to rate all the sandwiches at Bakery 164, discuss the premise of permanent online learning or speak to Leeds drug dealers who are hiring female drivers so women customers feel safe while picking up, we want you to come and write for The Tab Leeds.

In 2020, our stories addressed important issues as Leeds Uni announced a rent refund for students in uni accommodation.

We also broke stories that featured on the BBC and VICE. Some of our writers even spoke to press and featured on national television like BBC News, Channel 4 News and ITV News.

You don’t need to have any prior journalistic experience, and there are no commitments you have to make.

Our first open meeting of the year will be at 2pm on Thursday 23rd September in the Leeds University Union building on Lifton Place.

Whether you are just joining us as a first year or are approaching your final years here in Leeds, the meeting is open to students of any years at any university in Leeds.

The Tab is a student news site with over six million monthly readers. As a student writer, your stories will be shared on The Leeds Tab Facebook page, to a readership of over 56,000– the best articles are shared across all of our pages, and can reach readers all over the country.

Joining The Tab Leeds is more than just writing articles. The Tab is a nationwide online publication with a much wider readership than other Leeds student papers, and will give you an insight into how modern media works.

Tab alumni frequently go on to work for famous publications all over the world, including VICE, The Times, and Vogue. Just this year, former Tab student writers started jobs at The Telegraph, The Sun, and Cosmopolitan.
