Weather experts predict the ‘coldest winter for 100 years’ with blizzards expected by December

It’s time to bust out your winter wardrobe

Weather experts believe blizzards could be arriving from as early as next month across the UK and warn us to begin preparing for an exceptionally cold December and January.

As well as a "much colder end to the year," Exacta Weather warn of "some type of 100-year cold or snow records being breached this winter."

Leeds could see snow as soon as December 1st, according to forecaster Accuweather. The company predicts that 0.5cm of snow may fall at the very start of the month on the cloudy Sunday morning.

Long range forecasts from The Met Office bolster these predictions by saying "snow is likely at times in the north, mainly over high ground" and further predicting "night frosts and some fog."

The Met Office continues to issue extreme weather warnings across the country due to heavy rainfall and localised flooding. Rain is forecast across Leeds until Friday where, if correct, we may still have one more sunny day before the winter weather comes into full effect.

With a high likelihood of both snowfall and winter blizzards within the coming weeks, here's hoping we can finally have a white Christmas. And if there's one thing for certain, it's most definitely time to get your faux-fur out the wardrobe.
