Everything happening in Leeds this week

As if it’s week 6

Black Rebel Motorcyle Club, 02 Academy Leeds, Monday 30th

‘Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is a rock band from San Francisco, United States now based in Los Angeles. The band formed in 1998. They are influenced by Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Doors, Sex Pistols and The Ramones.’ Tickets are £25 and the event is from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

Syd Arthur, Lending Room in The Library, Tuesday 30th

Tickets are £8 and are on sale for the next two days. ‘Syd Arthur have built an enviable reputation as a band apart. Formed out of the forest party rave scene in their home county, and with a hard-won DIY self-sufficiency, they developed a sound and approach miles beyond their foursquare indie peers. Here was swirling rock with psychedelic textures, guitar-based trance with a funk groove. A band adaptive enough, bold enough, to tour with White Denim and The Strokes.’ If this sounds like the event for you, it starts at 8:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

Andrew Combs, Brudenell Social Club, Thursday 2nd

‘A Dallas native now living near the same Nashville airport immortalized in the opening sequence of Robert Altman’s country music odyssey, Andrew Combs is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and heir to that 1975 film’s idea of the Nashville troubadour as a kind of musical monk. Here in the twenty-first century whorl of digital narcissism, where identity can feel like a 24/7 social media soft-shoe performance, Combs makes music that does battle with the unsubtle.’ Tickets are £12 and the event starts at 7:30 pm until 11:00 pm.

Tickets are £14.50 and the event is from 7:30 pm until 11:30 pm. ‘Recently described as a mash up of Basement Jaxx and The Rocky Horror Picture Show performing at The Moulin Rouge, Slamboree are a one-of-a-kind ensemble who present a show that is unique to every performance. ‘

Crispy Aromatic Sounds in the HPBC Basement, Hyde Park Book Club, Friday 3rd

‘We’ve decided to throw a party of our own to celebrate everything to do with bass culture. Our system has recently expanded to an earth-rumbling six super scoops. Come hear our newly upgraded rig at the Hyde Park Book Club Basement for less than the price of a pint!’ Entry price to the public is £3.

Autobahn, Brudenell Social Club, Sunday 5th

“Melancholy and darkness, and dissonant, uncomfortable music, resonates with us, for whatever reason,” says singer and spokesman Craig Johnson. “The new record is more melancholy than dissonant. I feel we’re just opening up a bit more on this record.”  £8 are for advanced tickets. The event starts at 7:30 pm until 11:00 pm.
