Former Fame Academy star Lemar is headlining this year’s Churchill Spring Ball.

The Tottenham-born R&B hitmaker will treat partygoers to classics like If There’s Any Justice and It’s Not That Easy, just two of his seven top ten UK singles. After finishing third in the first series of ‘Fame Academy’ in 2002 Lemar went on to win two Brit Awards and three MOBOs, selling over two million albums in the process.

Jessica Rose, President of the Churchill Spring Ball Committee told The Tab: “We are very excited to have bagged Lemar as headliner for Churchill Spring Ball and we are sure he will be a fantastic addition to the night.” This year’s event has a Lewis Carroll inspired ‘Welcome to Wonderland’ theme with standard tickets costing £75 and and £69 if five are bought together. Abby Kearney, Mathmo and scholar at Churchill told The Tab: “I watched Fame Academy religiously when I was younger. Lemar is definitely the best musician a TV-talent show has ever created. Great move Churchill.”

Whilst some students are looking forward to Lemar coming to Cambridge, others aren’t so enthusiastic. Tom, a baffled compsci at Churchill said: “Who’s Lemar? Hang on, what’s the Churchill Spring Ball?”

Will, a lawyer at Magdalene said: “Well the ball is at Churchill, but at least Lemar will be there. Looks like there is some justice in the world!”
