Ah, casual racism. Before the Internet, you could only hear this sort of throwaway slur when your granddad had had more than half a glass of wine at Christmas dinner; what’s more, those occasions would render you speechless and mortified. YouTube, however, has given the world the excellent opportunity to laugh incredulously at the sheer bigotry of others, by publishing it for the nation to marvel at the ignorance of youth. Bless.

You could cut  the embarrassment of this moment of Countdown with a wooden spoon. Hell, this is a British television programme, and they react in a very British way; say nothing, act as if nothing is awry,  just purse your lips and carry on with what you’re doing.
