Bristol UCU to strike again this Wednesday
Bristol Uni’s problems ‘are of their own making’
Alfie Neville-JonesBristol UCU (University and Colleges Union) will be striking this Wednesday again following three days of strikes.
In a statement Bristol UCU said:
“University of Bristol University and Colleges Union (UCU) members will be on strike on Wednesday, 30th November against pension cuts, unfair pay, unmanageable workloads, gender and ethnicity pay gaps, and widespread precarity. UCU will be joined by striking University of Bristol Unison colleagues.
“Striking staff will be on University of Bristol picket lines from 8:30: the main picket line will be at 5 Tyndall Avenue, BS8 1TJ.
“Bristol University staff are among 70,000 UCU members at 150 universities across the whole UK who overwhelmingly voted to take action to protect higher education.”
“Employers have dragged their heels. refusing to admit that the problems are of their own making. University of Bristol UCU branch president.”
UCU member Dr Jamie Melrose said: “This final day of scheduled strike action will demonstrate that employers, the managements that claim to represent our universities, need to act now.”
