The Rainbow in Digbeth is closing permanently
Iconic venue set to close
The Rainbow pub in Digbeth will be closing indefinitely this month (May, 2017). The owner of the establishment has cited a shift in the Rainbow brand towards the Rainbow venues such as Arena, Blackbox and Warehouse.
The Rainbow pub will shut on May 28 unless a new leaseholder can be found. The remaining venues such as Arena, etc. shall remain open for the future as the new face of Rainbow. The existing owner has said even if a new leaseholder is found that the pub would not retain the Rainbow name. This spells the end of such an iconic pub and venue that has seen the likes of UB40, Bastille and La Roux. Closing festivities will be taking place from the 26th to the 28th of May.
