The Vengaboys came, and they conquered

The blonde one was heavily pregnant

Limelight party vengaboys vengabus

The Vengabus came, rocked Limelight, and it may have crashed.

With tickets at only £5 it was no surprise tickets sold out fast for every 90s child favourite Dutch foursome.

Although Scratch Mondays specified that everyone would only be allowed in if they had a valid student card, multiple middle-aged women were spotted sporting “Boom Boom Boom, I Want You In My Room” t-shirts, with feather boas and cowboy hats at the ready.

Despite being twenty years out of the Limelight (ha), they looked pretty good, even though Denise Post-Van Rijswijk (aka the blonde one), was heavily pregnant.

When main vocalist Kim Sasabone, announced that a Venga baby was on the way, the crowd went wild.

They sang not only all of their old Eurodance classics, such as “We Like to Party” and “We’re going to Ibizia”, but also covered some more contemporary tunes like LMFAO’S “Party Rock Anthem”.

Charlotte Atkinson, avid Vengaboys fan and History third year said: “It’s a good thing their songs are catchy because they are shite singers. I had a fab time.”

Poor vocals were easy to overlook however as the whole crowd was singing along to every word of every song. When the Vengas produced a selfie stick to video the whole club, everything went wild.

A few people may have gotten trampled in the name of ‘Boom Boom Boom’.

What better way to start Refreshers than with a Vengabus and a raging hangover.
