Belfast club lives up to its name as Stiff Kitten keels over and dies.
Grainne McKinneyYesterday Stiff Kitten announced on its Facebook page that they had decided to shut up their cat flaps for good after nearly ten years of business.
The beginning of the end perhaps came for Stiff when Limelight took control of Sketchy and all the cool kids flocked there, leaving Stiff empty and forgotten in the shadow of Movie House.
The status told us how Stiff Kitten was “very much a club of its time, and that time has now passed”.

Anyone who is old enough to appreciate the golden years of Stiff Kitten will understand this. A Thursday night wasn’t complete without standing in the lengthy queue hoping that you could get in before the rain ruined your backcombed hair.
Over the years Stiff has hosted a range of artists and Djs, and everyone will have some sort of experience trying to sneak into Stiff for an after party with the likes of Calvin Harris, Disclosure or Two Door Cinema Club.
Shine productions have stated that the “challenging location” combined with the growing popularity of night life in the Cathedral Quarter means they have decided to commit more time to “exciting new projects” which they will be releasing news on very soon.
