The Boys’ Valorie Curry calls out Comic-Con fans whose behaviour made her uncomfortable

She says they demanded her to recreate some extreme Firecracker scenes from the show

Valorie Curry from The Boys has posted a video calling out the behaviour of certain fans at Comic-Con in Belfast after she was made to feel uncomfortable when they tried to get her to recreate some of the more disturbing moments she had to do on the show as Firecracker.

Valorie Curry joined The Boys for season four, which just finished airing a few weeks back. As a new major character, Curry played Firecracker – a right wing villain who aligns herself with Homelander and offers him sexual advances to gain his favour – as well as breastfeeding him.

Speaking on her Instagram story, Valorie Curry shared how certain fans of The Boys crossed a line and made her uncomfortable when she met them at Comic-Con Belfast. “Just got back from the first day of Comic-Con in Belfast, and by and large everyone was fantastic. I’ve only just started doing these conventions on my own and everyone for the most part has been so lovely, so kind and so respectful. It’s really been wonderful,” Curry explained.

“But we do need to talk about boundaries. And what is appropriate in terms of behaviour. I know people saw a character I played do some pretty extreme things on The Boys. I don’t care if you’re in costume, I don’t care if you’re in character – it’s not okay and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth. It’s not okay. Frankly, to the person who did that to me repeatedly today – I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t okay and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry.

“I didn’t think this needed to be explained, but I was deeply uncomfortable. It was quite clear I was uncomfortable. I really want to be able to do these. I really enjoy getting the meet the fans and talk about the characters that I have played. I really love it. I want to be able to do this. I’m not going to be able to do this if people are acting this way – because it makes me so uncomfortable.

“Honestly, you should know better. Everybody else knows better. I don’t know what reaction you were looking for, nobody was laughing. If you’re thinking about it, and you think it’s going to be funny or a bit or a moment, it’s not. It’s just going to make me feel bad. So, please think about that before coming up to talk to me. Think about what’s appropriate and professional.”
