Right: Here’s whether King Aegon II actually died in House of the Dragon
My nerves are shot
Well, we finally got answers in House of the Dragon after that insane cliffhanger in the last episode about whether King Aegon died or survived. In the huge dragon fight, Prince Aemond tried to kill King Aegon and we were left on pins to find out whether he pulled it off or not. In the latest episode, it’s actually been revealed that SOMEHOW Aegon survived the dragon fire and the massive fall. But at what cost? Because these injuries are not looking good at all. Here’s what actually happened to Aegon in House of the Dragon and why maybe it would have been better for him if he’s actually died.
The injuries are awful
So whilst King Aegon is actually living to see another day, his injuries are so bad he probably wishes he hadn’t bothered. The Valyrian steel armour he was wearing has basically fused and melted into his skin with all the dragon fire being blown onto it. Tom Glynn-Carney, who plays Aegon, explained to USA Today how the King actually survived what most absolutely could not.
“It’s a small miracle,” Glynn-Carney says on Aegon’s survival. “His dragon Sunfyre took most of the brunt of the fall and might have cradled him. Maybe there’s a little hand of God. And those Targaryens are tough. He’s alive – for now.”
It remains to be seen whether King Aegon will die of his injuries at a later date – but I reckon he’ll get through it. By the time of this week’s episode, he’s already been on a 10 day long journey to get into the recovery area so he’s plodding on. But I doubt he’ll ever be the same.
