He’s back again! Meet Bronte: Joe’s new love obsession in YOU season five

Hayley SoenIt’s been a while, but we finally have a major update in the schedule of YOU season five on Netflix, and it comes in the form of Joe Goldberg’s latest obsession. Yes, of course no matter how many have come before, Joe will never learn and is back at his old tricks once again.
Netflix has previously confirmed the fifth season of YOU will be its final, and it will see Joe return to New York again. At the end of season four he had escaped with Kate, which means he has all the resource and money from her billionaire father.
Joe has a new love obsession in YOU season five, and she has been revealed as Bronte, a woman who comes to work with Joe in his bookstore. How very classic of them! Bronte will be played by Madeline Brewer, who you might recognise from roles in The Handmaid’s Tale, Orange Is the New Black or Hemlock Grove.
Her character is described as “enigmatic” and she makes Joe question everything he’s ever become. He really is a man of habit! Her full character description reads: “An enigmatic and free-spirited playwright who comes to work for Goldberg at his bookstore. As the two connect over literature and loss, she stokes in him a nostalgia for his former self, causing him to question everything his life has become.”
With this being the final season, Bronte will likely be crucial to the conclusion of Joe’s story. Plus, does anyone else think Joe is back in NY and she looks a lot like Beck? Surely this wasn’t done by accident.
A teaser trailer for season five hinted that in the final episodes, it’s clear Joe has left a lot of mess behind him, and his past could start to catch up on him. Will Marianne be back? Ellie?
It’s been reported filming for season five is set to begin on March 25th, and wrap by August 1st, 2024. Nothing has been said on a release date yet.
