Selena Gomez was 11 when she first auditioned for Disney, 20 years ago

Selena Gomez was born in Texas in 1992. She rose to fame on Disney Channel, and her first acting role was as Gianna in the popular ’90s children’s television show Barney & Friends, where she starred alongside Demi Lovato from 2002-2004.

2007 was Selena’s Disney breakthrough

In 2007 Selena was given a regular role in Hannah Montana, before she started with smaller roles in a number of Disney shows. She then auditioned for and landed the role of Alex in Wizard’s of Waverly Place, which is where we all now know her from.

We can’t go without a shoutout to the blue highlights that seemed to have every young Disney star in a chokehold.

Selena dated Justin Bieber between 2010 and 2018

After being introduced by their managers in 2009, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber went on to date on and off from 2010 until 2018. They made their red carpet debut in 2011, but broke up the following year. However, come 2017 and it was rumoured they were back together, before they broke up again the following year.

Her first solo album was released in 2013

Selena’s first solo studio album was called Stars Dance, and was released in July 2013. Its lead single, Come & Get It, reached the top ten in the US, Canada, and the UK.

In 2013 Selena was 100 per cent paving the way to becoming the queen of Insta. Every week she was posing with fans, and posting about her sell-out concerts.

2012, the Spring Breakers era

What a throwback to 2012, when Selena was in classic film, Spring Breakers. The movie also featured Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson, and is all about four college students who head to Florida for their spring break. Soon, they are arrested only to be bailed out by a drug dealer who tries to convince them to join him.

2013

Around 2014 was the peak Coachella era, and when Selena had her first drama with the Jenner sisters

Back in the 2010s, Selena was friends with the Jenner sisters. However, after posting photos together at Coachella 2014, Selena was spotted to have unfollowed both Kylie and Kendall on Instagram.

Sources told Us Weekly at the time things got “messy” when Selena felt “the Jenner girls were flirting with Justin [Bieber, her then boyfriend] and his crew.”

I’ll never forget these vibes. Selena was always hanging out with Cara Delevingne, the Spring Breakers cast, and other Disney child stars. This was a time!

2015 – 2016

On November 10th 2015, Selena performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
