A rundown of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s relationship history

She has already been engaged once before in prison

Last week, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison after serving eight years behind bars for the murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard in 2016.

In court, it was found that Gypsy’s mother had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where a carer makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make the person they are caring for appear ill.

When Gypsy Rose was released her husband Ryan Anderson, who she has been in a relationship with since 2020 came to pick her up, and have since posted lots of cute pictures together. But prior to meeting her husband Gypsy Rose has been in various other romantic relationships, but who have they been with?

Gypsy Rose and Nicholas met on a Christian dating site in 2012. They continued to talk online until they met in person for the first time in 2015. Then in June, conversations turned darker after Nicholas Godejohn revealed an “evil side” that “enjoys killing”.

Nicholas Godejohn’s trial was held in November 2018, during which Gypsy testified that she came up with the plan to kill her mother because it was the only way she could escape her life of abuse.

In July 2019, Nicholas Godejohn did an interview from prison where he called his relationship with Gypsy Rose “the best days of my life”.

He said: “From the very beginning, I just knew we were soulmates. Those five days when I was actually with her, physically with her, those five days were the most intense, and magical, and awe-inspiring days I’ve ever had.”

“Somehow I just knew, deep within my heart, some way me and her would end up being together in the end. There’s no other option, we gotta do it,” he said, referring to the murder. “I wanted to make sure her mom was not going to harm her anymore. I made sure of that.”

However, he later claimed that she “was basically the mastermind behind it all, and I was basically a hired hitman in its own weird sense. I loved Gypsy to the point where I would have done anything for her. I’ve proven that with what I did. Unfortunately, because of how far I went, I feel as if she’s betrayed me. I feel she’s abandoned me.”

After the murder trial, Gypsy Rose and Nicholas Godejohn’s relationship quickly deteriorated and they soon broke up.

Ken

Prior to her romance with Ryan, Gypsy Rose was engaged to a man called Ken, after the two met through a pen pal programme at her prison. At the time a representative for Gypsy said: “Gypsy’s family and her future husband Ken met in person for the first time in March. Gypsy and Ken are making plans to build a life together once she is released.

“Everyone had fun getting to know each other over a pot of Gypsy’s father’s famous gumbo. Kristy is such a supportive, kind and loving mom to Gypsy. That turned into a relationship through email. And then he went and visited her. That was the beginning of this friendship, which turned into something more than a friendship. At the beginning of this year, they decided to get engaged.”

The two were briefly broken up for one day but resumed their engagement once they got back together. Gypsy’s stepmother said: “They are back together. The engagement is on, but they are taking things slow and want to keep their relationship as private as possible. They still are aiming for a 2020 wedding, but things can change.”

Multiple other men

A family friend Fancy Marcelli said in August 2021 that Gypsy Rose was in multiple relationships with different men whilst she was in prison.

She said: “These are guys from the support groups, the Gypsy support groups. They attached themselves to Gypsy, and a lot of them just want fame. One of the guys was 20 years older, they’ve already broken up. Some of the guys have even gone to the prison to meet Gypsy!”

Gypsy Rose met Ryan Anderson after he sent her a letter to her in prison in 2020. He was working in a hospital at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic and his number of clients dropped from around 300 to 12.

The show Tiger King was popular at the time and his co-worker said she was going to write to Joe Exotic. He said that he would write to Gypsy Rose Blanchard if she wrote to Joe Exotic: “I said, ‘I’ll tell you what, if you write him, I’ll write Gypsy Rose Blanchard.’”

Ryan and Gypsy obtained a marriage certificate on the 27th of June 2022, whilst she was still in prison. Then on the 21st of July, they got married in a small prison ceremony with no guests.
