Samie applied for Love Island three times before appearing on the winter series

She really wanted to find love on national television 😬

Winter Love Island 2023 finalist Samie Elishi has revealed she applied for Love Island three times before landing herself a spot as a bombshell.

In a YouTube video about her Love Island experience, Samie opened up about what the application process is like and how it took her three tries before appearing on the show this year.

The former Islander first applied two years ago when she was 21 years old. “You’ve got a fill out a whole form about yourself, answer some questions, tell them [producers] funny stories and then you’ve got to insert a 60 second clip just telling them about yourself,” she said explaining the process she took when she initially applied for the show.

She continued: “You are basically selling yourself for 60 seconds and why you would be good on the show and what you’d bring to it. So I did that when I was 21 and it was an epic fail, I didn’t get a call back, I didn’t meet anyone, I just heard nothing. It was quite brutal.”

Despite not getting far the first time round, Samie didn’t stop there and applied to be on the last year’s season. The 2022 series featured the likes of Indiyah and Dami and saw Ekin-Su and Davide win the show.

Samie revealed she made it quite far in the application process last year, with a phone call and Zoom call from producers.

She said: “The second time I applied I thought, ‘Yep I’m in. I was telling people at work, I was telling my mum.’ Then it went dead again, I didn’t hear anything.”

Although it was a massive “confidence knock” for Samie not getting on the show last year, she tried one last time and later entered the South African villa as a bombshell.

Samie came in third place with Tom and they are still going strong. Since leaving the show, Samie has gone on to launch her own YouTube channel and post regular fashion and beauty videos on her social media pages.
