Elektrik Warehouse responds to alleged ‘crowd crush’ concerns at Shoshi event

Liverpool nightclub Electrik issued a statement after an alleged “crowd crush” at the venue during a Freshers’ Week event. 

Electrik hosted its first club night of the academic year on Monday (14th September), with TikTok star, Shoshi, as a special guest. 

The event was attended by a large number of students, although one student described seeing “everyone getting crushed” during the night.

Elektrik has since confirmed that the venue was well below capacity in a statement. 

One TikTok creator, Joe*, described to The Liverpool Tab what happened. He said: “I think the event was definitely overbooked.

“It was so cramped and sweaty and it’s never normally that bad in Electrik.

“When Shoshi came out and everyone started bouncing and getting excited I think people just started panicking, which is what resulted in everyone getting crushed.”

Joe said that they thought “the bouncers could have done more…like maybe opening one of the fire exits.

“Me and my friends ended up getting elbowed and shoved about.

Joe was not the only TikToker posting about the event. @Owaiisss__ posted a TikTok seeming confused about the crowding. 

“You lot complaining about last night and there being a crowd crush for Shoshi, you’re all just impatient.

“I turned up at 1am… the crowds leaving… I literally just find her [Shoshi] on the dance floor vibing with security… we had a whole conversation.”

The continued: “I don’t know what crowd you guys had.”

However, a commenter [@jamiebkz_] on the post argued: “We were in there between 11:30-1am and it was absolute hell from being over packed but we left, came back at like 2am and only had to wait like five minutes to meet her.  Just depends if you got caught in everyone trying to find her.”

A spokesperson from Electrik Warehouse told the ECHO: “During a PA and meet-and-greet, customers briefly congregated in one area of the venue. The venue was well below capacity. Entry was temporarily paused while the area was cleared, and normal operation resumed shortly afterwards without incident.”
