New ranking reveals the 10 best UK unis for graduate employment, and none are Russell Group

No Russell Group university made the top 10 for graduate employment in a new analysis of HESA data, with Oxford and Cambridge ranking 83rd and 82nd out of 88 universities.

The analysis, carried out by Careerminds UK, uses HESA Graduate Outcomes open data covering full-time UK undergraduates surveyed around 15 months after graduating. The ranking is based on the 2021/22 cohort and covers the 88 universities with at least 200 graduates in the data, excluding smaller cohorts to avoid skewing the results.

Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen took the top spot, with 91.2 per cent of graduates in employment. It was followed by two other Scottish universities, Glasgow Caledonian University at 88.2 per cent and the University of the West of Scotland at 87.6 per cent.

The highest-ranked Russell Group university was Queen’s University Belfast at 31st, placing it behind institutions including Aston, Liverpool John Moores and Bath Spa.

King’s College London was the lowest-ranked Russell Group university, with 68.3 per cent of graduates in employment. Imperial College London followed at 69.4 per cent and UCL at 70.1 per cent.

Cambridge ranked 82nd with 72.1 per cent of graduates in employment, while Oxford ranked 83rd with 71.7 per cent.

Here are the top 10 universities ranked by the proportion of graduates in employment 15 months after finishing their studies.

3. University of the West of Scotland – 87.6 per cent
4. University of Gloucestershire – 86.3 per cent
5. Bournemouth University – 86.3 per cent
6. Edge Hill University – 85.9 per cent
7. Queen Margaret University – 85.7 per cent
8. Sheffield Hallam University – 85.3 per cent
9. University of Salford – 85.2 per cent
10. Heriot-Watt University – 85.0 per cent
