Police still investigating suspected acid attack outside Castlemilk Greggs in Glasgow
A 19-year-old man was rushed to hospital following the attack
Police are still investigating a suspected acid attack outside Castlemilk Greggs in Glasgow.
A 19-year old man was rushed to hospital after being injured outside the bakery chain in Castlemilk Arcade in August.
Emergency services arrived at the scene at around 2:35pm on Sunday 17th August, after reports that an individual had been hurt.
The teenager was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Witnesses claimed it looked like an acid attack, alongside what appeared to be slash marks and bleeding, the Glasgow Times reports.
Police Scotland did not confirm those reports at the time, saying “enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Whilst the attack did not occur inside the bakery itself, the Greggs branch shut temporarily following the incident.
Before paramedics arrived, staff at the store helped the victim.
He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 2.30pm on Sunday to attend an incident on Dougrie Drive.
“We dispatched one ambulance and a critical care paramedic, with our first resource arriving on scene within four minutes.
“We transported one male patient to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
Nearly six weeks after the attack, police have confirmed they’re still looking into what happened and that the investigation remains active.
