Attention: The Glasgow Tab is looking for new writers to join our team, and we want you

Come to our open meeting at 3pm on Tuesday September 30th, at Bank Street Bar and Kitchen

The Glasgow Tab is officially looking for new writers to join our team, and we want you.

Our publication covers everything Glasgow Uni related, whether you want to report on serious campus news, chaotic happenings, or fun features.

We’re looking for talented local student writers, as well as people interested in social media and content creation, to help out on our Instagram and TikTok pages.

We are hosting our first open meeting of the academic year at 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday September 30th), at Bank Street Bar and Kitchen.

If you have any questions or can’t make it to the meeting, please send us a DM on Instagram.

So, what is The Glasgow Tab?

The Glasgow Tab is a university branch of The Tab, a national student news site operating across the UK. It’s written by students, for students, in a style that you want to read.

You don’t need to have any previous journalism experience, but you’ll need to have a passion for investigating important stories, and a desire to curate the most relatable content that focuses on all things Glasgow.

Your articles could reach a huge audience, too, as The Tab gets over nine million page views per month. All our stories are promoted across our Instagram and Facebook pages, which have over 25,000 followers across both platforms.

As well as hard-hitting news, we also write fun pop culture pieces, tapping into student life with guides or interviews.

It’s important we cover all aspects of student life in Glasgow, and everyone brings a new perspective. We value your voice and want you to be involved this year!

Why should I join The Glasgow Tab?

Tab writers from across the UK at a social organised by HQ in London

The most daunting part of job-hunting is often filling out that CV, and writing for The Tab gives you exactly what employers love to see. Not only do you gain valuable experience and transferable skills, but you’ll also be able to say you’re a published student journalist.

At The Glasgow Tab, writing is completely flexible around your deadlines, part-time jobs, and the very important priority of social life. You can contribute as much or as little as you like.

No experience? No problem. We encourage people of all abilities to come along to our open meeting to find out more. You’ll get guidance from our editorial team and support from The Tab’s assistant editors at HQ, helping you sharpen your writing and develop the skills needed to become an excellent reporter.

Many of our writers have gone on to incredible careers at places like The Times, The Telegraph, and Vogue. But even if journalism isn’t your end goal, the skills you gain will set you up for professional life, and it’s an amazing opportunity to socialise with like-minded people.

How can I join?

Come to our open meeting at 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday September 30th), at Bank Street Bar and Kitchen.

Attendees from all Glasgow universities are welcome, and we encourage you to bring along any ideas for articles and social media content. The only requirement is that you’re a student for the full academic year.

If you’re a little unsure, feel free to pop in, grab a drink or some food, and just chat to the editorial team and fellow writers to gauge whether it’s your thing.

We look forward to seeing you there!
