Manchester Arndale releases statement giving huge context people missed about pink jacket girl

This changes everything

The pink jacket girl in the Manchester Arndale has gone mega viral this week – even as far as over in the US, not just here in the UK. The girl has been called everything from “a diva” to “a f**king nightmare” in social media reactions, as the clips go viral thanks to their use of the currently everywhere Jet2 holiday TikTok sound. The reposts of the videos, originally shared on TikTok, have got MILLIONS of views on Twitter when they were shared on there and so much discourse discussing what was actually happening in the videos. Now there is actually a major bit of context shared by Manchester Arndale on what actually happened with pink jacket girl as the shopping centre issues its new statement.

What happened in the pink jacket girl videos Manchester Arndale released statement about?

Footage appears to show a young girl in a pink jacket and what appears to be her family involved in a confrontation with security staff outside a retail store, alongside a separate group of shoppers. The exact nature of the exchange is unclear, but online speculation suggests the family were being accused of shoplifting. Security personnel can be seen intervening to separate the two groups.

In a continuation of the footage, the girl and her family are seen walking away from the scene before another young girl throws an unidentified object in the direction of the security staff and the other shoppers.

A subsequent clip, believed to have been filmed shortly after, shows the girl in the pink coat descending an escalator with two security guards behind her. She then climbs onto the space between the two escalators and steps onto the upward-moving staircase, which appears to be out of service, using it to ascend.

At the top, she approaches a group of bystanders who appear to be observing the situation. The video then captures her confronting a female shopper, before pulling the woman by the hair and retreating down the escalator.
