Drag Race’s Jinkx Monsoon just absolutely roasted JK Rowling for ‘identifying’ as a male author
Bit of a mic drop moment
RuPaul’s Drag Race icon and literal queen of queens Jinkx Monsoon – the first legend to win her season and an All Winners crown – has just gone viral for absolutely roasting JK Rowling in a mic drop moment. It’s now wonder it’s driving everyone wild because Jinkx is so intelligent and quick witted that this is probably nothing to her, but I could only dream of being so succinct. The Drag Race winner was in conversation with comedian and writer Ziwe, who when asked a question about Harry Potter author JK Rowling absolutely went in – the Jinkx Monsoon way.
Oh it’s savage
Jinkx Monsoon, who came out as trans in 2024, was doing an interview with Ziwe who asked the Drag Race winner if she thought JK Rowling would play a good Roxy Hart in Broadway musical Chicago.

Jinkx says “Who is he? Jake Hey Rowling?” To which Ziwe says “He is a she.”
Jinkx responds “Oh dear, that is not a feminine name in the slightest. I know that oftentimes female authors use initials so that people assume it’s a male writer. So I have to presume that JK Rowling was unsatisfied with the way that the world saw her, so she transitioned herself into a new personality so that the world would perceive her in the way she wants to be perceived.”
Ziwe says, simply “gagging.” Me too.
