Ginger Minj reveals the sweet advice Trixie Mattel just gave her now she’s won Drag Race

Trixie and Ginger both faced similar criticism from fans when they won All Stars

It’s been a weird first week of victory for Ginger Minj after she finally won her Drag Race crown when she took the title for All Stars 10. It’s been years since there was this level of fury and discontent at who won a series not only from fans, but from queens of the show too. The whole thing felt dissatisfying – and it’s sad because it’s not the fault of Ginger at all who is truly a talented drag queen and just showed up and worked hard. One queen who shares in what it’s like to win Drag Race and not quite get the fanfare from the fandom is Trixie Mattel – who won All Stars 3 without being the fan favourite and now Ginger Minj has revealed the touching advice Trixie reached out with after Ginger won.

This is so wholesome

Ginger Minj and Trixie Mattel were both on season seven of Drag Race and have now go on to both win All Stars crowns. After all the sagas of this week, Ginger Minj has revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Trixie Mattel reached out with some Drag Race winner advice.

“After the dust had kind of settled a little bit, Trixie called me and we had a long heart-to-heart. And she just said, ‘I’m so proud of you. You’ve achieved this goal that’s so cool, and you’ve wanted it for so long.’ And she said, and ‘There’s days now, like 10 years later, almost, where I look at my [All Stars 3] crown and go, ‘Oh my god, it’s so cool. It’s so cool that I did this thing.’”

Ginger also said Trixie was helpful in teaching her how to focus on the positives of winning the show.

“She said, ‘But you’re also getting all of the people who are giving you backhanded compliments of, ‘Congratulations on your win, ignore the haters’. She said, ‘Just don’t entertain any of it. You know why you did it, you know why you deserve to win and you just kind of have to live in that moment for yourself before you can start entertaining the good or bad from anybody else.’

“So it was really nice to hear that from somebody that I respect so much,” Ginger added.

Queens supporting queens! You love to hear it with all the drama of this week, you simply love to hear it.
