Drag Race’s Trixie Mattel just explained why she’s going on her second break from drag

Trixie also revealed how long she’s going to be absent this time

Last year, the most successful queen in RuPaul’s Drag Race history Trixie Mattel announced via her incredibly popular YouTube channel that for the first time in her career she’d be taking a total break from drag. From everything, actually. All social media, all podcasts, all YouTube uploads and all appearances. Apart from those that she’s pre-recorded ready to go out. Now, Trixie Mattel has just announced that this year she will once again be taking an extended break – and now we know exactly when she’ll be going away for a while. It’s going to be a long slog without our Trixie, but we’ve done it once and we can do it again.

It’s not as long this time

In a video uploaded to her hugely popular YouTube channel, Drag Race legend Trixie Mattel has now shared more detail about her career break and detailed when it will be done by.

Trixie explained “Last year I went on my first ever drag break. I was coming out of the worst depression of my life, coming out of a crisis of: ‘What am I doing with my life? Do I even like drag?’ I was over it.

“All summer, last summer, I was so off the grid… All I did was chill. And it was so creatively fulfilling. And I realised you have to refill the bucket! And so, this summer, I’m doing that again. I’m pre-taping [content for the channel],” Trixie shared about her experience on her last break.

The All Stars 3 winner also stated “If you’re an artist, do not disrespect the gift of being an artist, by wearing those tires down until they’re bald.” In her video, Trixie didn’t confirm when the break was actually starting – so yes, she might actually already be on it. This content we’re seeing now could be pre-recorded.

But what Trixie did confirm is that the drag break will last til the end of August. Because, in her words, “No one needs to be crossdressing in August.” Very fair.

We will have to survive on The Bald and the Beautiful rewatch of season seven for now. Which will be more than enough, because the idea of getting to feast on Trixie and Katya rewatching season seven of Drag Race is utterly delicious.
