This iconic RuPaul’s Drag Race queen has quit drag and announced her new job

‘I saw the end coming long before it arrived’

I am not a lover of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13. I am however, a lover of Tamisha Iman – because there’s nothing I love more than an older, established legend who’s ready to give the gobby younger queens a run for their money in Untucked. Kandy Muse is still shaking, I’m sure. But now, in sad news for many but amazing news for her and her next venture, Tamisha Iman has announced she’s quit drag for the foreseeable as she takes an indefinite hiatus and announces that she’s got a new career move as a radio producer and owner of a new station.

‘I’ve written and deleted this message a dozen times’

Tamisha Iman was known for years to drag queens in America for her work in the scene – but the world got to know her name when she went on Drag Race during season 13 and made a huge impression. Her merch flogging ways and her now legendary “Tamisha Iman is coming for you” verse is stuff of legend. Now, Tamisha Iman posts a moving drag announcement to her Drag Race fans and followers as she launches her brand new venture.

“It’s been 4 long months since my last post. And if I’m being honest, I’ve written and deleted this message a dozen times. But today — after reflection, healing, and a quiet return to myself — I finally found the words,” Tamisha shared on her Instagram.

“For over 37 years, I gave my heart, body, and soul to an industry that shaped me, saved me, and scarred me all at once. The ride was wild, beautiful, painful, and glorious. And while I saw the end coming long before it arrived, I held on… for you. For the love you showed me when I couldn’t find it for myself. For the way you lifted me when I didn’t think I had anything left to give.

“Your love made this rollercoaster of a career worth every twist, turn, and tear. But now, as this chapter slows to a stop, I want you to know this: I am not done. I’m just shifting lanes — from the spotlight to the studio. From performer to producer. I’ve found a new kind of peace, a new kind of purpose — building something powerful for the next generation, and telling stories on my own terms.

“If you’ve ever stood by me, rooted for me, or whispered a prayer for me… thank you. You made this journey magical. Truly. Though I won’t be posting on this page as often, it will always be a home. If you’d like to follow my next chapter, join me at @ssmntrailrideradio — my new Instagram home where I’m building the next legacy.

“This isn’t goodbye. It’s just ‘See you soon.'”

Tamisha Iman has detailed that SSMN Trail Ride Radio will be a platform celebrating Southern soul and blues music, which will feature “music videos and artist interviews” plus “behind-the-scenes stories and live concert broadcasts”.

Congratulations to a legend!
