Love Is Blind’s Ajay frets he’s not rich enough for Ciara, so what’s his job and pay?

On Love Is Blind UK season three, Ciara Murphy has made it clear she has rather specific financial expectations for her future husband. Her fiancé Ajay Cheema seemed stressed that he might not have enough money to regularly meet her £300 minimum spend for dates. So, what job does Ajay from Love Is Blind actually have, and what’s his typical pay? Here’s an extensive investigation (which I bet Ciara would have loved reading, tbh).

Yup, Ajay from Love Is Blind is a former finance bro

He got an undergrad degree in economics and finance from Brunel University of London, and a diploma in banking and finance from the London Institute of Banking and Finance. Ajay got onto HSBC’s Graduate Management Programme in 2017. Reports on Glassdoor indicate people on this grad scheme were paid somewhere between £30,000 and £35,000.

Ajay spent two and a half years as an analyst at HSBC, then got a job as an associate in the leveraged finance department at Rabobank. Old job ads and reports on Indeed indicate his salary may have been in the realm of £50,000.

He then had a rather sudden career change

At this point, Ajay appears to have re-evaluated all his life choices. He gave up on banking in October 2024, moved to Australia and got a retail job in a Lululemon shop. Fair play to him.

He wrote on his Instagram: “Got a retail job – a big pay cut from banking for sure, but Lulu gave me the chance to build my network and figure out the fitness landscape in Melbourne.

According to Glassdoor, the average pay for an “educator” (that’s what they call the sales associates or retail assistants) at Lululemon in Melbourne is $27 AUD (£14) per hour.

Ajay is trying to make gym his job

As Ajay tried explaining to Ciara on Love Is Blind, he’s building a career in fitness coaching. 

In March 2025, he got a job as a trainer at a gym called 1R Australia. According to the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers,  personal trainers typically make between $25 AUD and $59 AUD (£13 and £30 per hour), depending on their experience and the area.

After about 10 months in Australia, Ajay returned to the UK. He’s done coaching at the fancy Equinox fitness centres in London. In summer 2025, he led the strength and conditioning programme for the English National Ballet School. What a flex (literally).
