Jaafar Jackson claims second film will cover child abuse allegations from ‘Michael’s view’

‘It’s someone else’s idea of what it is, and it’s mainly driven by an agenda’

Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar has spoken out about the much-anticipated upcoming Michael sequel, and claimed it will cover the child abuse allegations from “his point of view”.

The first film was released back in April 2026 and follows the singer’s early life, from his days with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s to becoming a worldwide superstar and the Bad World Tour in the late 1980s. It was originally supposed to include the allegations too, but they decided to cut that part out and split it into two parts.

Lionsgate executives already confirmed that a second film is in the works, with plans to start filming in late 2026, and Jaafar has now given us some insight about what it will cover.

In a new interview with GQ Middle East, he said: “I think the second film will give even more insight from his point of view, because at the end of the day, [the allegations] are always from someone else’s. It’s someone else’s story. It’s someone else’s idea of what it is, and it’s mainly driven by an agenda. And that’s really the issue we’ve been having as a family – not having Michael’s voice being heard. I think that’s very, very important, especially in the late years.

“This first film focuses on Michael from his roots. So you get that idea of who he was before he had all the success and became the icon that people are familiar with, you understand who he was as a human being first, because at the end of the day, that’s who he was in the ’90s until he passed.”

He continued: “He never changed that purity, that sense of always wanting to find the good in other people. And no matter all the stuff he went through, how he was treated, what things were said about him, he never stopped treating people with kindness. He never stopped believing in and wanting to look for the good in people… even though he was broken, his heart still stayed the same… I hope that this is felt in the second movie.”

Jackson faced multiple child sexual abuse allegations spanning from 1993 to after his death in 2009, all of which he has denied. The singer was only arrested once, in November 2003, when he was formally charged with multiple counts of child molestation involving a teenage boy. It went to trial in 2005, and a jury acquitted him of all charges.
