‘Foreign d*ckheads’: Tweet posted by Love Island’s Helena has resurfaced, and people are mad
A source close to Helena has now given a statement addressing the tweet to The Tab
Helena is one of the most divisive Islanders on Love Island 2025, with her behaviour in the villa so far certainly rubbing people up the wrong way. Especially with regards to Shakira, who she has near endlessly found herself in a love triangle with and one of many in the villa she’s clashed with. Now, Helena has found herself in drama outside of the Love Island villa too as she finds herself getting called out online for an old tweet that has resurfaced.
Here’s what’s happened with the latest scandal regarding a resurfaced tweet and people absolutely dragging Helena as the Love Island star finds her apparent Twitter account under scrutiny. The Tab reached out to representatives for ITV and Helena and have now received direct confirmation of the Twitter account and a statement regarding the post.
The post has received backlash
The post, which is still live on an account that seemingly belongs to Helena, reads “All I can hear are these f*cking foreign dickheads”. This post had led to some calling Helena racist online. The post calling out the tweet has made huge ripples through those watching the show when it was shared last night.
Hungry Helena being a racist no wonder she hates Shakira. #LoveIsland pic.twitter.com/C9E07mBddT

The account is seemingly owned by Helena. The handle for the account on X is the exact same as her Instagram one, but it has been inactive for some time. The tweet that has caused all the backlash was posted in 2014, and is still live now.

The account has a pinned tweet regarding Love Island accusing past Islander Charlie Frederick of ruining a birthday of hers in the past. Obviously this is way before Helena got cast on the show, but she is from Devon and Charlie Frederick is from Plymouth.
The conversation on Reddit regarding this resurfaced tweet admittedly call Love Island controversial Islander Helena out for it being “not a good look”, whilst also making the point that whilst the wording used is unpleasant it doesn’t necessarily directly link to racism.
One viewer writes “I think it’s a bit of a leap to call this racism, could have been about white Americans, French, literally anyone. Obviously it could have been about another race but we have no proof of that. Not a great look though.”
Another says “This isn’t racist. It does seem very unpleasant but it’s contextless and we were all dickheads at 18. I don’t understand how anyone goes on TV leaving up stuff like this though.”
The Tab has reached out to ITV Love Island representatives for comment. A source close to Helena told The Tab: “This tweet is not reflective of the language Helena would use as a 30 year old woman and she would acknowledge she has done a lot of growing up since what she very naively posted over ten years ago.”
As Helena is currently in the villa, she is unable to provide a statement on this matter to The Tab directly.
ITV also told The Tab: “We are very transparent about the processes that are in place to prepare Islanders ahead of entering the villa, one of these being a programme of language and behaviour training which covers race, ethnicity and microaggressions. We execute extensive background checks in advance of Islanders entering the show and are one of the only shows in the UK to offer such a detailed training programme to provide education and instruction to Islanders on what is considered acceptable behaviour and how they should conduct themselves in the villa.
“This training is their opportunity to learn and gain perspective from any mistakes or errors of judgement that have been made prior to going on the show.
“Language and behaviour in the villa is always closely monitored – and Islanders are reminded of what we consider acceptable during their time on the show.”
