It took security nearly 10 seconds to escort the fan off stage and Katy Perry had to handle the situation herself. In the video shared on Twitter / X, Katy Perry was in the middle of performing Hot N Cold when a fan stormed the stage. The fan quickly ran directly over to Katy and grabbed her and put his arm around the singer. She moves away from him as he continues to jump around before going into the dance Katy Perry famously invited ‘backpack kid’ up to do in a televised performance of Swish Swish during her Witness era.

Katy Perry then says “Well, there’s never going to be another show like this. So just enjoy it, Sydney.” Security team then rush on and escort the fan off.

The stage invader fan has been named by Australian press as Johnson Wen – and in an Instagram profile seen by The Tab Wen can be seen boasting about the situation with Katy Perry. It’s also not the first artist he’s done it too, with videos of him rushing The Weeknd on stage too.

Wen wrote on Instagram “Me on stage trolling with Katy Perry. Dear Katy Perry you were my childhood artist from when I was 9, all those memories from 2008!!! 17 Years ago! I love you forever till the end times.” He also in follow up posts thanked Katy for letting him dance with her even though it was unplanned.
