Inside Drag Race fan theory producers thought Irene was too talented so needed her gone first

On All Stars she’s won three mini and maxi challenges – on her original season she went home episode one

Irene the Alien, formerly Irene Dubois, is making history on All Stars 10 after her original RuPaul’s Drag Race attempt – and the world is obsessed. Irene famously went home first on her season, even though she was clearly amazing with very elevated drag and won a lot of fans because of it. The pressure was on for her return on All Stars 10 as a queen with so much to prove, because we barely saw anything of what she could do on her season. No one knew if she’d thrive or be “bad at Drag Race” and just go home first again – but now she’s won three challenges and three mini challenges and made a HUGE impact. Now, there’s a theory from fans about why Irene went home on Drag Race season 15 and why she’s doing so well on All Stars 10 and it honestly makes a lot of sense…

Hold on a second…

So, the theory explains how Irene went home first on her season of Drag Race – and on All Stars 10 she’s the front runner. Winning every single episode she’s been on and all the mini challenges is an insane track record. So why couldn’t she make it happen on season 15? Maybe she could, but maybe something else was afoot that was actually stopping her.

One fan whose tweet is making ripples suggests that the Drag Race producers of season 15 wanted rid of Irene on season 15 because in their view the theory explains that actually, they were too worried she’d be a threat to Sasha Colby winning the crown. Sasha Colby is such a drag legend who obviously deserves her place in the hall of fame of winners, and now that Irene has smashed it so hard on All Stars perhaps the show was panicking she’d outdo Sasha!

However, not everyone is convinced – with the replies questioning if Irene could ever actually beat Sasha Colby in the final. One called it a “rage bait take”. People are split, but there’s no denying the disconnect between Irene’s two performances whilst she’s competed.

Personally, I do not think producers rigged the show to get rid of Irene. I think Irene just performed badly on her first episode – the talent show bombed and she clearly lost the lip sync. She was a good personality and had great drag which has only improved and that’s why the show booked her on All Stars 10. I’d love to see her win the series right now, but will be interesting to see how well other frontrunners do when the second and third groups of All Stars 10 start to compete!
