Jacqui’s dad reveals brutal reason her family didn’t go to her MAFS wedding and slams the show

‘She is unrecognisable to us’

Jacqui Burfoot’s dad has finally revealed why he and the rest of her family didn’t show up to her MAFS Australia wedding with Ryan. Whilst doing so, he’s ripped into the show and how his daughter has appeared.

Since day one, Jacqui and Ryan have given us nothing but turmoil. One minute they’re arguing and crying, the next they’re love’s young dream. Now, since the show, they’re locked in a legal battle against each other. You really couldn’t make all of their drama up.

But let’s rewind back to their wedding day on the show. It seems like a million years ago, I know. Jacqui showed up to her nuptials with Ryan in a blue dress, which she has brutally said she did because the day “wasn’t real”. It didn’t feel like real life, either.

When they first met, it felt a bit more like a job interview. Jacqui listed off all of her hobbies and jobs, and Ryan didn’t really seem to get her at all. Jacqui had clear doubts about if they were a good match, and Ryan seemed more fussed that everyone knew loud and clear that he is a *warrior*. His image wasn’t at all helped when he tried to romantically dance with his bride, but dropped her on the floor.

One thing that was noted as well, was that Jacqui didn’t have any family at the event. Her dad, Doog Burfoot, has revealed why. He told the New Zealand Herald: “Jacqui did talk to her mum and me about going on the show. We weren’t overly happy, but we knew she would die wondering if she didn’t.

“Her reason, we think, was probably for opportunity… to go through the door to see what’s there: Love, fame, fortune, or just the adventure of the unknown and the discovery of new doors to open.

“We were asked by Jacqui to attend the wedding but we said that we would prefer to go to her real wedding. We think this is one of the reasons she chose a blue wedding dress… to save the white one for the real thing.”

He added the family would definitely be against Jacqui doing reality TV again. Doog added: “After her experiences with MAFS, we would not support her going on another reality TV show. The power to destroy will always remain with the producers.

“The Jacqui you see on MAFS is a highly fictional and twisted avatar of the real person. She is unrecognisable to us and a product of gross editing that uses “frankenbiting” — splicing different answers to different questions, showing the bad 1 per cent to create, in Jacqui’s case, the ‘crazy’ narrative.”
