People think Katy Perry put $1 Temu sunglasses in her VIP tour bag and she’s getting dragged

VIP packages featuring merch on this tour cost up to £500

Katy Perry is getting dragged online again – must be a day that starts with ‘y’. This time, it’s not cause her album flopped or got the worst critical reception of any 2024 record – and it’s not for her woefully received music videos. It’s actually because people think she’s putting a pair of Temu $1 sunglasses into her goodie bag for the fans who are paying extortionate prices to see her on tour with the VIP package option. Obviously this is all just internet rumblings, but see for yourself on why these two products have raised eyebrows as Katy Perry gives away sunglasses in her tour merch.

The Temu ones

The sunglasses on Temu are listed as Trendy Y2K future style fashion glasses. They’re retailing at $1.68. Not to be too savage, but I think even from the picture of the product you know you’re about to get lumped with something pretty naff.

The Katy Perry merch

The sunglasses you get in the VIP package for the Katy Perry Lifetimes tour feature an image that is almost identical to the one from Temu – with the KP logo lasered onto the side. If she is using these ones for the merch, she is at least giving fans a glasses case and a nice little wipe for the lenses to go with it.

Obviously, there’s no confirmation that these are the actual ones, but people are discussing the similarities. Katy Perry has not yet addressed it.

To get these glasses from the Katy Perry tour, you’d have to purchase a VIP ticket option. Prices for these are as follows here in the UK:

• KLUB 143 VVIP EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE – £502.75

• INFINITY CIRCLE VIP PACKAGE – £397.75
• KATYCAT EARLY ENTRY GA PACKAGE – £227.75
• KATYCAT SUPERFAN SEATED PACKAGE – £227.75

What are people saying?

It is getting dragged by some as people question the quality of the free merch, but others have pointed out that this is a practice commonly used by many artists.

“I’m sorry but did you think they like had a team of engineers testing mockups for these? Like so shit they white label bulk items. It’s common practice from A LOT of businesses not just her,” one fan explains. Another pointed out how the whole point of these free gifts is just a free extra and so it’s inevitable they’re made as cheap as possible.

Other merchandise includes a watch and a necklace. The tour packages will include at least one piece of the VIP exclusive merch.

When The Tab reached out to representatives for Katy Perry on the story, the reps said there was no comment on the matter as they were “not even aware” it was happening.
