Um, Katy Perry has responded to the eye-roll conspiracy theory she is secretly JonBenét Ramsey
JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in 1996, Katy Perry is very much alive and well
Traumatic cases like the murder of JonBenét Ramsey are often surrounded with concerning conspiracy theories, but the outlandish idea that she grew into pop star Katy Perry might be the most unhinged yet.
Most of us are familiar with the JonBenét Ramsey case, especially after the recent Netflix doc Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey, but in case you’re not, here’s the rundown. Christmas of 1996 marked the time beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her parents’ home in Boulder, Colorado, at the age of six. Almost 30 years on, the case has remained unsolved, but that hasn’t stopped people from theorising about what happened to her.
According to Yahoo, the connection between Katy Perry and JonBenét Ramsey began in 2014 when a viral video claimed that JonBenét’s parents had faked her death in the hopes of making her famous. Since then, the conspiracy theory regularly pops up on Reddit, TikTok, and Twitter, and usually with AI-generated content that shows JonBenét morphing into adult Katy.
There are more holes in the theory that a colander, from the difference in age to the fact that Katy was born in California and JonBenét in Atlanta, Georgia.
I don’t think anyone was expecting Katy Perry to comment on the conspiracy theory, but shockingly, she now has.
Katy Perry confirmed she is NOT JonBenét Ramsey – who could’ve guessed?
Last month, the latest AI video that showed JonBenét morphing into Katy Berry began picking up traction on Instagram, amassing over seven thousand likes and hundreds of comments. The clip was set to Katy Perry’s song Wide Awake alongside the caption “WAKE UP PPL.”

Amongst the hundreds of comments that seemingly supported the theory, Katy chimed in with a resounding “Wait, am I”. Her comment also received close to seven thousand likes, with people STILL debating the conspiracy theory underneath.
“@katyperry people telling you what your childhood was is insane,” one person wrote.
Another said: “@katyperry show us your birth certificate, sis!”
“So she’s a clone? Because that little girl didn’t go missing… she died…” someone else suggested.
This isn’t the first time Katy Perry has spoken about JonBenét Ramsey, as that moment came in 2011 when Katy was interviewed by Vanity Fair. She spoke at length about her childhood and said, “Not that I was one of those stage kids. There was no JonBenét Ramsey inside of me waiting to burst out.”
Ironically, it’s that interview that many people took as “evidence” of her secret former life as the beauty queen.
