John Ramsey shares new updates that make him ‘optimistic’ at solving JonBenét case
He has also said he’s ‘not bothered’ people think he was involved in his daughter’s death
John Ramsey has given an update on the case surrounding the death of his daughter, as the world watches the new JonBenét Ramsey Netflix series. In the last week, the most watched documentary on Netflix has been Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey, which reexamines the cold case.
JonBenét Ramsey went missing in 1996, and her family found a sickening ransom note in their home when they awoke. Her father, John Ramsey, then discovered six-year-old JonBenét’s body in the basement, and it was later revealed she had been sexually assaulted and brutally murdered in the family home.
The case remains unsolved to this day. However, there have been a number of theories surrounding what may have happened. One huge unsolved piece of evidence was why an unknown male DNA was found in JonBenét’s underwear. It’s believed finding this DNA match will find the killer.
What is the latest in the JonBenét Ramsey case?
At the end of the three-part Netflix series, it is said the Ramsey family is pushing for more DNA trials which could crack the case of what happened. In an update, John Ramsey has claimed DNA from the scene was never tested, and it holds the answers. New DNA technology could also help re-examine previous DNA samples, and help crack the mystery.
Speaking on Cuomo on NewsNation, John Ramsey said: “We want the evidence that has been previously tested and never tested. We think there’s some that has never been tested.

“We want that re-sampled by one of the cutting-edge labs that’s out there. The government, I don’t think, has the technology yet to do it. An Othram Labs, Bode Labs, those are really cutting-edge labs. Bode did the original testing back in 1997. They came up with unidentified male DNA, still unidentified.
“That was a real problem for the police, because they’d already decided that we were the killers. Like, ‘how do we explain away this unidentified DNA?’ And they tried for a long time find an innocent explanation.”
John Ramsey added he felt the case could have been solved “years ago” had police not focused on theories to do with the family. John, JonBenét’s mother Patsy, and JonBenét’s brother Burke Ramsey, have all been scrutinised before. According to reports, a police source has also said they can solve the case now. “We f*cked the case up from the start, and now with new blood, we can finally fix it,” they are said to have claimed.
In response to this, John Ramsey told FOX31: “Well it’s encouraging that they’re optimistic, for sure. I think if the right things are done, it can be solved. I really believe there’s a high probability with the technology that’s out there today that wasn’t there eight years ago when the last DNA testing was done.”
John Ramsey is no longer bothered what people think about him
In an interview ahead of the Netflix series, John Ramsey said he’s no longer bothered people think he was involved in his daughter’s death.
“Once your reputation is tarnished, rightly or wrongly, it never goes back to pure white,” he said. “That’s just life. And it doesn’t bother me. I mean, we were so overwhelmed by kind people and caring people. That five per cent or 10 per cent is irrelevant, and I’m not worried about it.”
